In addition to 3 professional cover letters for you to choose from, each written slightly different, the prompt will also produce these reports:

GAP Analysis: Identify and bridge the gap between your current skills and your target job requirements. The GAP Analysis tool recognizes required qualifications for the job you are applying for and  prints a table that identifies any missing skills or other qualifications that may be problematic.

Actionable Advice: Generates a print out of strategic recommendations to enhance your interview performance, including tailored responses for potential interview questions that might be ask about missing skills or qualifications, including suggested responses to mitigate any shortcomings you may have.

Skills Analysis:  The Skills Analysis tool reads the employer’s job description and requirements and then selects the best traits from your resume that most closely match the employer’s most important traits, so that you can highlight your alignment with important traits you know are being sought after.

Since each new set of cover letters will be to a different employer, these 3 reports will output along with your 3 cover letters each time you run the prompts.

Deciding on which Artificial Intelligence LLM to Use

If you are wondering why we decided to go with a Copy and Paste format, it is for reasons of flexibility, given the rapid changes in AI features, capabilities, and input methods. There is a snowball effect in play – from updates every few months, to weeks, to days, and now sometimes multiple updates in a single day.

The AI of only a few months ago, is no match for today’s AI, and it can only get better! Today is the worst it will ever be! However, they all have one thing in common: ultimately there is a content window for inputting information, ergo copy and paste works with all publicly available AI LLMs.

Fierce competition for dominance in the AI world has seen the leader change almost as rapidly as the updates. At this writing claude.ai ver 3.5 sonnet by Anthropic has a slight edge over chatGPT ver 4.0 by OpenAI, with Google’s Gemini a close 3rd. This could change tomorrow. For example, Grok-2 is coming on strong and a plethora of others as well.

  • Chat’s output looks good on screen, but if you click the copy icon and paste into your document, you will need to first convert from markdown language. You can avoid this extra step by highlighting onscreen and copy the output directly from Chat’s display to your document.

Let’s get started!

1 Start by opening the file in your computer that contains your resume, preferably in Google Docs.  Locate the  job description and copy/paste it into a separate Google Docs or Microsoft Word document. Then open a new, blank document in Google Docs or Microsoft Word and goto Step Two. * We prefer Google Docs because it doesn’t embed hidden symbols that might disrupt an AI.

2 Copy/Paste the entire prompt in the box below into your new empty doc, then insert (paste) your resume below the red label marked RESUME START found at the bottom of the prompt, and then insert (paste) the job description below the red label marked JOB DESCRIPTION.

*NOTE You can place cursor in box and use “cntrl-a” to highlight entire box and then “cntrl-c” to copy, and then “cntrl-v” to paste into you new Google doc.
